Lee is a UEFA A Licensed coach, and as Head of Content at The Coaching Manual, Lee curates (as well as creates) the professional sessions, guides, interviews, and more available to our subscribers.

He has held various roles throughout his storied career including Technical Director at Southampton FC and coaching roles throughout the England/The FAs age groups. He is also a contributor to the content applied on the prestigious UEFA Pro License Course. 

Martin’s Principles of Play series of sessions and guides on The Coaching Manual underpins all player development and understanding of the game, and as such is essential content for coaches everywhere.

Emmet started his playing career at Notts County and played around 500 games over 16 years as a professional in England, Northern Ireland, and the Republic of Ireland. He has been capped for Northern Ireland from u17 to u23 levels, including 10 under 21 caps for Northern Ireland.

Recently he has been coaching for the Irish FA in their National Performance Programme, and he holds the UEFA A Licence.

Mark is a first-team coach at a national league system club, and previously worked for a Premier League club coaching players from 8 to 15. He is also a current academy coach working with players in the youth development phase.

Jake is a UEFA B Licensed coach and is a Foundation Phase expert, having held Academy positions at Rochdale AFC and Wigan Athletic, and is currently an Assistant Manager at Old Altrinchamians in Manchester. 

As such, Jake is the Foundation Phase Content Lead at The Coaching Manual - responsible for session content up to U12s.

 

8-Feb-20-2025-10-19-37-5050-AMDaniel is a UEFA B License coach with the Advanced FA Youth Award. He also has over 20 years of experience working at Premier League Academy Wolverhampton Wanderers. Including roles as head coach for U7-U12, Head of the foundation phase and Individual Technical coach for U9-14.

As his reputation continued to grow, he was offered the manager's job at Al-Ittihad where he won the Arab Cup. He arrived at Old Trafford in 2001 and was tasked with coaching the club's youngsters. Meulensteen's progress didn't go unnoticed and he was subsequently approached by Brondby to become their new manager.

He returned to Manchester in January 2007 when he was made technical skills development officer. He held that role until September 2008 when, after a management reshuffle following Carlos Queiroz's departure, he was promoted to first-team coach. He is currently the assistant manager of Australia.

David Moyes had a long professional playing career as a defender starting at Celtic and ending at Preston North End, playing over 500 games as a pro. Throughout his playing career, he showed an interest in management, taking his coaching badges at the age of just 22.

Upon retirement, he then moved into Coaching and Management and has a CV which includes West Ham United, Manchester United, Real Sociedad and his most recent club, Everton.

His Pressing Masterclass Session is some of the best content we've ever captured.

Former England manager Steve McClaren has had a playing and coaching career that spans over 45 years. His early days of coaching included Oxford United and Derby County before he moved to Manchester United in 1999 where he was a part of the team behind the famous Treble winners.

In 2001 he moved into management with Middlesbrough where he won the League Cup in 2004. He went on to manage various clubs including England, Newcastle United, and Twente where he won the Eredivisie. He is currently the manager of the Jamaican National Team.

Chris Hughton had over 350 games as a professional player for Tottenham Hotspur, West Ham United and Brentford. He began management in 1997 as caretaker manager of Tottenham Hotspur and has gone on to manage clubs such as Newcastle United, Norwich City and Brighton & Hove Albion. He is currently the manager of the Ghana National team

After his playing career, Dean Smith initially worked as a youth coach at Leyton Orient until he landed his first managerial role at Walsall. He has since gone on to manage Brentford, Aston Villa, Norwich City and Leicester City. He currently manages Charlotte FC in the MLS.

As a coach, Alan Irvine has worked in various roles at Blackburn Rovers, Preston North End, Newcastle United and West Ham United. He also managed at Preston, Sheffield Wednesday and West Bromwich Albion. He is currently the assistant manager to David Moyes at Everton.

Screenshot 2025-03-10 at 14.34.45Stuart Pearce had a playing career that spanned 22 years where he played for Nottingham Forest, Newcastle United, West Ham United and Manchester City.

Pearce initially began management as a player-manager while at Nottingham Forest. He held full managerial positions at Manchester City, Nottingham Forest and Great Britain at the London 2012 Olympics. Check out Pearce's content on our site about the 4-3-3 formation here.

 

Screenshot 2025-03-10 at 14.42.29During his playing career, Mike Phelan played nearly 500 games, winning the Premier League, FA Cup, League Cup and European Cup Winners Cup with Manchester United. 

As a coach and manager, Phelan has held multiple positions at clubs such as Hull City, Norwich City and most notably at Manchester United as assistant manager in 2008-2013 and again in 2018-2022.

He has coached the game at both grassroots and elite level, also working as a Football Development Manager for over 15 years . He is an FA Coach Developer delivering UEFA B and C Licence qualifications.

He formerly managed Woking in the National League, as well being assistant manager at Grimsby Town in the Football League. He is currently Head Coach at Hartlepool United.

 

1-Feb-20-2025-10-19-37-3966-AMThirty years after being scouted by Kenny Dalglish’s Liverpool, the former player and now sports psychologist was recruited by the club in 2019 to work with Jürgen Klopp’s squad.

The ex-Chesterfield manager – described as “a really, really interesting person” by Klopp – is an additional resource in the first-team set-up, providing psychological guidance and advice to those who request it.

Lee is also co-Director of AIM-FOR, which provides elite and grassroots athletes with cutting edge performance and mental performance management. He has also produced courses for the PFA.

 

4-4An ambitious UEFA A Licensed Academy Manager who has accumulated vast experience within elite academy operations through roles with Wolverhampton Wanderers FC and previously Walsall FC and Aston Villa FC
