Last week saw the release of the latest masterclass recorded by The Coaching Manual as part of our partnership with the League Managers Association - featuring West Ham Assistant Manager Alan Irvine.
As you probably already know, The Coaching Manual is made up of people who know what it takes to be a good football coach, and they have been left very impressed by what they have seen in Alan Irvine's Attacking Quickly Masterclass.
"It's scary how much he fits into this session"
TCM Founder Chris Barton said: "The video for Alan Irvine's practice session is a lot longer than most of our other content of this type, and that's because there was so much detail within the session that is helpful for any coach.
"His personality really stands out. He has a cracking, very dry, sense of humour, and the way he is able to deliver messages to his players, even critical messages, is brilliant.
"It's scary how much he fits into this session. It's like a mini documentary on how to coach football."
"This session is a must-watch for coaches"
TCM Technical Director Paul Bright was equally impressed by the session. He said “Alan’s experience as a professional player and professional coach/manager is evident to see as he delivers this masterclass session."
Paul, like Chris, particularly noted the way in which Alan Irvine communicates with his players.
"He provides in-depth detail and feedback to individuals, units, and the whole squad during the practices, and is able to build a rapport with players through his detailed, game-specific coaching points. Alan provides the players with opportunities to demonstrate their understanding and continue to learn position-specific coaching points that support them to improve the effectiveness of their attacks when possession is regained.
"This session is a must-watch for coaches wanting to develop their coaching demeanour and deliver transition to attack activities, as Alan demonstrates his years of experience working at the top levels of the game.”
