The Coaching Manual is delighted to welcome on board AFC Market Bosworth, another ambitious club within the Leicestershire and Rutland County FA.

We spoke to Club Chairman Mark Roscoe, who recently introduced The Coaching Manual to his team of volunteer grassroots coaches. He said: "As a club we have a handbook which talks about our ethos and focus on youth development. That is the baseline of how we operate, and getting The Coaching Manual is the next step, that supports our coaches to continue to provide high quality coaching to our players. This will only benefit their development and enjoyment of the game further”.

"As we rolled The Coaching Manual out we used pre-populated season plans to show our coaches what the platform can offer in terms of planning both for individual sessions and as structured training blocks throughout the season. This gives them a flavour of the types of sessions they could deliver, highlight age appropriate content delivered by some of the game's experts, ideas on coaching different aspects of the principles of play, and most importantly keeps the sessions fresh, varied, and of a high standard.

As part of the club's strategic development plan, AFC Market Bosworth invest in their volunteers, and were searching for an easy way for coaches to build their session content, that also had the assurance of supporting high quality training. The Coaching Manual offers the flexibility that the club needs to support coaches, build team specific training blocks, or pull out one-off sessions to focus on specific tactics or areas of focus.

The club has 19 teams, ranging from Wildcats (girls only development centre) and U6s, right through to a veterans team across both male and female pathways. Their focus is on inclusion and fun, while also offering a progressive pathway that supports male and female players and providing opportunity to be the best they want to be.

It was this desire to provide professional session standards to his players and coaches that led Mark in the direction of The Coaching Manual while searching for sessions online. He said: "Personally, the David Moyes pressing session got me intrigued, and then the more I dug into it, the more I realised what the platform can do for us. But the time-saving aspect of the platform is a close second in terms of benefits - we’ve got to be realistic and acknowledge that people have day jobs so it's a big help when it comes to supporting our coaches to have the tools to deliver high quality sessions."

As well as sessions from big names like David Moyes and Steve McClaren, The Coaching Manual also hosts an extensive series of sessions based around the Principles of Play delivered by UEFA Pro Licence tutor Martin Hunter - enabling AFC Market Bosworth to provide that high level of education on an easily-accessible digital platform.

AFC Market Bosworth are the second club to come on board with The Coaching Manual following the partnership between TCM and Leicestershire and Rutland County FA. Mark quipped: "We thought we were the first but we were pipped to the post by Leicester United!

He said: "In football terms, we are a relatively new club but we have grown significantly since establishing nearly 12 years ago and continue to go from strength to strength. We’re in a rural area - Market Bosworth and have players travelling over 20 miles to play for us. Our pull is really good so it would seem we are offering  They’re passing a number of clubs to come to us, so what we offer seems to be working, and we want to continue to grow.

"Ultimately we want to invest in coach and player development, while recognising that we’re all volunteers - and want to make it easier to plan and prepare quality sessions. It's about providing a 'kitemark' on what we offer as a club. And you can never have enough volunteers so we're always looking for coaches to get involved, especially at the younger age groups."

If you want to be a part of the AFC Market Bosworth journey we are always looking for volunteers and can accommodate players in some of our age groups. You can contact club chairman Mark Roscoe through their website here
